An Initial Mantra

The goal I suppose is to shape and prepare students to lead a successful life. Isn’t that the essence of teaching? Providing from the onset a desire to learn and grow is the whole reason I want to teach. Literacy simply isn’t a narrowly focused set of rules, it is the content that we provide for students, it is the way in which we teach them and it is the ways in which they learn. When a student departs the safety of my room they should be fluent in how to learn, and filled with the desire to want to know. Through these teachable skills, the paths that a student can take when leaving my door are endless. What we know is who we are and I hold the power to help create successful futures.
